Meet Ricki Dorman, LiquidSpace’s West Coast Venue Ambassador
Our Meet the Team series continues and we’re back on the West Coast this week. Say hello to Ricki Dorman, our West Coast Venue Ambassador!
Tell everyone a bit about yourself and your path to LiquidSpace.
I was born in New York City, but moved to the Bay Area when I was 5 years old and grew up in Oakland. After graduating from UCLA, I started my career in the food world. I worked as a pastry chef at Wayfare Tavern and then worked at two food tech start-ups. I realized food was a passion of mine not my career, so I got my real estate license. After passing the real estate exam, I learned about LiquidSpace. I didn’t want to be a traditional broker. I wanted to be a part of the team that is disrupting the real estate world.
Any favorite amenities at workspaces in the Bay Area?
The roof deck at NextSpace Potrero Hill is amazing. It is a really nice place to sit outside, take a break from work and enjoy amazing views of the city. I am a real sucker for a good view. I also love to work at Servcorp or Carr Workplaces because they have amazing panoramic views of the city. Cold brew coffee in a keg on tap at The Port in Oakland is also a fun amenity!
Do you have a favorite neighborhood to work in?
I like to work in Hayes Valley and lucky for me LiquidSpace has an amazing coworking space there! Makeshift Society is a really cozy, cute place to work. Some of my favorites places in the neighborhood are Biergarten, Blue Bottle and Souvla. I love to be able to eat and shop during a break from work. Right across the street from Makeshift Society is this hidden gem called 20th Century Cafe. The lunch is delicious, and you have to try the Russian Honey Cake.
What type of workspace best suits your personality and why?
I love a variety. It really depends on what type of work I have that day. If I am making a lot of phone calls, I like to work in a private space. Marina Workspace is perfect if you need a private space. The decor is awesome. Each room is very tastefully designed with a small meeting table and couches. I don’t like working at a desk, so I love to be able to choose to work from the couch or a comfy chair. When I want to cowork, I like to go to NextSpace Berkeley or Code and Canvas – both have great lounge areas.
What are your outside-of-work passions?
I love to cook and eat! My friends have told me I am better than Yelp. They give me a neighborhood, price range and have me plan their dates.
